Weight Watchers Take-Out Tonight! : 150+ Restaurant Favorites to Make at Home--All 8 POINTS or Less

Weight Watchers Take-Out Tonight! : 150+ Restaurant Favorites to Make at Home--All 8 POINTS or LessThis may be the best book published under the Weight Watchers' umbrella. It is a wonderful collection of favorite recipes from eight culinary genres. Chinese, Mexican, Indian, Thai, Italian, Greek, Japanese and Deli cuisine is featured. I love food (that's my problem) and delights such as General Tso's Chicken, Chicken Saltimbocca, Spanakopita, Shrimp Pad Thai and Moo Goo Gai Pan are now healthy, tasty and guiltless. You will not believe that these recipes are all 8 points or less. What is even more remarkable is that the family or guests will not suspect that these recipes came from Weight Watchers. This is a great leap forward for Weight Watchers as it makes the most popular restaurant meals not only available in your home, but healthy and delicious.

The book, unlike some earlier Weight Watchers' cookbooks, is very well laid out. The chapters are color coded and the index is arranged by cooking cuisine, with the recipes listed alphabetically. There are many beautiful illustrations as well. Many of the recipes come with a box called Clever Cook's Tips that give the user some useful suggestions, techniques and recipe substitutions.

You don't have to be a Weight Watchers' client to appreciate this book. The recipes are just good, dieting or not! Buy this one...you won't be disappointed.

I was just starting WW and it was going well, but I was bored. I had found a bunch of safe foods with just the right point values, but BOY was I craving take-out food and all those yummy things you can only get when cheating on a diet! I wanted Thai food most, which is notoriously filled with coconut cream and salt. Argh!

When I found this book at Amazon, I immediately ordered it... and thank goodness I did! Not only does it have Thai, but Italian, Indian, Japanese, Mexican, Greek -and more. There are foods in here that I never thought I'd be able to have while on Weight Watchers! The recipes are straightforward and actually authentic -I was worried that they would be too far from the originals but have been pleasantly surprised. The Thai "fresh" spring rolls (also known as Vietnamese Goi Cuon) are SPOT ON! I've even served them to guests, who couldn't stop complimenting them.

One of the best things about this book is that not only do they provide the nutritional information about each serving, but they actually say the size of each serving. This seems like such a small thing but in another WW book I ordered, the recipe only tells you how many servings for the whole recipe. Maybe I'm just not good at dividing, maybe I'm lazy... but just knowing that I can have a 1-cup serving of something *before* I start making something is helpful.

I'm usually one of those "make it up as you go" people with cooking (this could be why I'm on WW!) but I find myself actually using this cookbook quite often! Hope this helps!

This is a great cookbook! I just bought it a few weeks ago and already I have made six recipes from it. This cookbook would appeal not only to those looking to lose weight but also aspiring cooks who are hooked on take-out. I would say that although these recipes are not exactly authentic versions of the take-out favorites, they are even better! I especially love the "clever cook's tips" that are featured on most of the recipes that tell you what substitutes to make in order to make the dish vegetarian or how to change a dish to make it better. The Spicy Orange Chicken so far is my favorite. Bon appetit!

This is a super cookbook! My boyfriend and I love spicy food: Thai, Mexican, Chinese, Indian. But we also want to eat healthy and lose weight. (I'm doing Weight Watchers Online.) This book satisfies our need for "take-out"-flavored food but with lower calories and saturated fat. We just had the Shrimp Pad Thai for dinner tonight, and it's terrific! So many lowfat recipes taste bland, but the pad Thai had a great kick from the chili sauce. All the recipes make at least 4 servings, so we have plenty of leftovers for healthy lunches! So we save money on dining out too! This is a great value. Finally, there are many recipes for appetizers that make a whole lot of servings, so I can make tasty hors d'oeuvres that I can eat without guilt! This book is great for anyone who wants to enjoy great-tasting lowfat food. Enjoy!

I've tried more than half of the recipes in this cookbook and enjoyed every one of them. Taste and variety are as important to me as calories and 'points' and this cookbook doesn't disappoint. For those of you with a spouse who isn't 'diet' conscious, you know how difficult it is to serve meals that please both palates. I can assure you that this cookbook will do the trick...for the first time in many dieting attempts, I feel satisfied by my meals and my husband doesn't feel like he's also on a diet!

The Florida Spiny Lobster: How to Catch It, Its Biology, A Crawfish Cookbook, and First Aid for Mino

The Florida Spiny Lobster: How to Catch It, Its Biology, A Crawfish Cookbook, and First Aid for Minor Diving InjuriesI love hunting for lobsters but am not very good at it. sucessfull hunters are loath to share their secrets. I was looking for information on how to find florida lobsters when I found this book mentioned. amazon had it in stock and I quickly had my copy. information on florida lobsters is very spotty, as far as I know this is the only book on the subject. If you hunt the spiny lobster (or the other 2 in florida) this book is a good guide. It also has several recipes for cooking lobsters and diveing tips to use while hunting them. I found it interesting reading for the knowlege of a creature that I knew nothing about untill my first trip to the keys.

I am a life-long diver and bug catcher (i.e. spiny lobster). Most of what I have learned has been from the "Crash and Burn Institute of Technology". Well the sad thing for me is, most of the stuff I have learned over a lifetime of recreational bug catching is right here in this 2-hour read. Everything the aspiring noob would need to know before they got in the water is here all the nuts and bolts, start to finish finding 'em, catching 'em, cooking 'em, cautions, and on and on. It's all in the book. Everything but GPS waypoints. I bought the book to help my teenage sons come up to speed with dad, and maybe learn a thing or two myself. No regrets. My boys learned a lot by reading it (things I tried to teach them but hey, I'm just their dad sound familiar?). I'm going to write a hate mail letter to the author for not writing it 35 years ago! Jerk! (just kidding). Get the book. Get a snare. Talk and LISTEN to locals, and pony up for more than your share of gasoline if you are sharing a boat. Good hunting, and stay safe there's never been a fish or a bug worth dying for. Will in Sarasota

101 Workouts for Women: Everything You Need to Get a Lean, Strong and Fit Physique

101 Workouts for Women: Everything You Need to Get a Lean, Strong and Fit Physiquei teach fitness classes at a major national chain. this book is excellent. great ideas, wonderful pictures and tips. no diets (which i don't always like to have mixed with my fitness/exercise books). it's pure exercise moves using barbells, dumbbells, bands, stability balls and machines with good variety on each. if you workout at home only without a gym this probably won't work for you but if you're a gym person this is a great book. i should mention that i really like the diversity of fitness models. that's something you don't always see in fitness books but i really appreciate it. this book is like having a personal trainer! i'm going to use it to select some exercises before i go to the gym then when i get there i'll just do the routine i planned for myself. again, i have lots of exercise experience but i still find this book to be a fresh edititon to my fitness book collection. if you like muscle & fitness hers magazine you'll really like all the workouts in one easy to ready, and pretty, book. good job!!!!

I just picked this book up at B&N yesterday and for some of the very reasons previously listed by the other two posters. I love all of the great ideas it has to offer and the diversity of the women in the book. I also love the fact that all the pictures depicting the poses are in COLOR. It even provides exercise routines which includes the number of sets and repetitions along with tips on what or what not to do. For those of you who don't have a gym membership don't fret it offers plenty of exercises you can do at home utilizing dumbbells, barbells, medicine balls, resistance bands, your furniture, a step apparatus, a workout bench, and an exercise ball.

So there's something for everyone at any level. I don't think I've ever been this excited about exercising since there are 101 fully color illustrated exercises to choose from.

I wish that I had ordered it from Amazon because I could have saved money but I'm still happy I got the book.

I've been using this book for the last 11 weeks and I am so happy with it . I've always been into fitness and have been a runner for many years, but despite my hard work I have never acheived the overall toned look I wanted simply because I lacked the know how. Well, I just had my 3rd baby 3 1/2 months ago and let me tell you, I am so pleased with the results. Granted I still have a ways to go, but I feel strong and look pretty good. If you combine this book with cardio as it suggests, I just don't see how you can go wrong. What a great book!

I agree somewhat with the previous reviews except YOU DON'T NEED TO JOIN A GYM! Did you know that if you have exercise bands the kind with handles you can duplicate almost if not all the exercises done on gym equipment. I am fortunate to have a Precor 3-2-1 and have found a new love for working out on it at home. But I also have exercise bands and like to use them as well so the book is a win, win for me. When a band feels to easy, just buy the next heavier one or make the band tighter. The other great thing about this book, is they give a sample work out week, such as, Mon: chest and triceps, Tues: Legs, Wed: off, Thurs: Back and Biceps and Friday: Shoulders and Abs. The book is not just body parts they also have 8 to 12 week plans. As you can tell I really like this book, if you have felt disappointed in other weight training books, as I have, buy this book and you will be happy you did.

Nothing to Wear?

Nothing to Wear?I have to agree with several of the previous reviewers who fault this book for being "light" on the information. I consider myself average in wardrobe knowledge and I really didn't learn anything new. It wasn't even presented in a particularly insightful manner. Some info was a good reminder, however, but plain stuff, like buying the right type of hangers for your closet.

I didn't appreciate their references to "this designer" or "that designer" when describing looks, because I'm not that familiar with them, and I would guess a large percentage of the American public is in the same boat. They also could use some pictures!! I know it puts the price of the book up, but BOY could they use some pictures (this bears repeating)!!

Save your money or look at this one in a bookstore because it's so short you could read it while standing in the aisles!

I got this book from my mother who thought my wardrobe could use a pick-me-up--I'm a stay at home mom who wears a lot of t-shirts and jeans, but this book changed that. I really thought if I was just schlepping the kids around, I didn't really need to do anything about clothes, until it was Easter and I didn't even have a dress to wear to church. To say the least, I needed help, and I found it here--I took their little test, was surprised by the result, actually, and decided, well, maybe it is time to embrace that bohemian inside me and start looking the part. And it didn't break the bank, either--I'm taking the advice a few pieces at a time. It was fun to read and fun to implement.

I liked voice and intent of this book, and got some very good pointers, but overall, the content is thin. The most important tips can be read in the NY Times Sunday styles review of the book. Would have preferred the authors dig a little deeper into some of the concepts. For instance, I should clear my closet of things that aren't flattering. How about some hints to a great fit??? If I bought it, I probably already think it fits! Since most of us can't afford the authors' hourly consultation rates, I don't think they would have siphoned off a lot of their business by letting out a few more tips.

I don't know how I cam across this book, but I'm really glad I did. Like a lot of women, I have a ton of clothes, but can never find the right things to wear (except for parties!). This book made me rethink my wardrobe by first helping me define the style I want to project, then weeding out (or editing) my current wardrobe, and finally carefully buying the missing pieces.

After reading this, I realized that I'd been buying a mish-mash of styles, so it was no wonder I had such difficulty in pulling looks together, even though I had some great clothes.

The description of how to build a core wardrobe you can reach for everyday was incredibly helpful to me. I also appreciated how the book's style references were up-to-date.

This book is not geared to any one type of dresser--its lessons are adaptable to professionals, students, home-makers, and everything in-between, and also for a variety of styles (they categorize them as classic, chic, bohemian, avant garde and whimsical). I highly recommend this incredibly helpful book.

I absolutely love this book! After borrowing a copy from my public library and thumbing through it at least 2 dozen times, I'm going to be purchasing my own copy. Of all the wardrobe-styling books I've read (and I own several), this book holds up incredibly well on repeat readings. It's a slim volume but packed with excellent stuff. Do not heed the reviewers who say this is light on information--not true! An uncluttered layout leavened with photos and whimisical pen-and-ink fashion illustrations make for easy yet memorable reading. The boys break dressing down into 5 Fashion Types: Classic, Chic, Whimsical, Bohemian and Avant Garde, providing a quiz and 'case studies' of each type. After helping you determine your Type, they provide valuable tips on organizing a workable and steamlined closet and stocking it with clothing items that meet the "Three Q's": Do I love it? Is it flattering? Does it project the image I want to portray? Their advice is valuable even for women who are heavier and lower on funds than the average fashionista, but in order to get maximum benefit from Joe and Jesse's expertise, it helps to be happy with your current size and have money to spend on quality new clothes. Even so, they almost make cleaning out your closet sound like fun . . .?! For those of us who cannot afford their personal services, purchasing this book is the next best thing. Highly recommended.

High-intensity home training

High-intensity home trainingI have developed my own weight training regime based partially on some of the techniques suggested by Robert Kennedy, but mostly by using the techniques developed by Dr. Darden. High intensity and super slow are the two most important aspects of putting on muscle mass. In my case, I'm 44 yrs old with a long history of running, soccer, and triathlon sports. Due to a knee injury I decided to turn myself into a weight lifter. In 10 weeks I have gone from a lean (& partially atrophied) 150 lbs post-op from knee surgery to 165 lbs of muscle mass that is all in my chest, back, arms, and one good leg. My waist has stayed constant and 32", but have I got a set of Abs now. Keep in mind I can't do any exercise that involves too much stress on my other knee. Real squats are out. The exercise and gain in muscle mass has helped the injured knee and associated muscles progress at a rapid rate so I do not look unbalanced.

I think those are neat gains and I see myself topping out near or above 170. That weight gain and shape change on me is dramatic.

My problem is that I train at home and while I have put together a pretty good array of equipment there are exercises recommended by both authors that cannot be done at home cheaply or easily. I would like to get and read this book by Dr. Darden on home gyms so that I can determine what improvements I can make in my own set up. PLEASE REPRINT THIS BOOK!

This book is one of 42 published by this author. Personally I have read five of his books, and this one is a good fit for the person tired of the gym scene yet still wants to get a good workout without spending a fortune. Gives you a great program to workout at home and get results without having to use all the fancy equipment of a gym!

Golden Fountain: The Complete Guide to Urine Therapy

Golden Fountain: The Complete Guide to Urine TherapyI won't go into the actual chapter by chapter content of this book, as reviewer 'Tepi' has already done an excellent job of that, but having steeled myself to try this therapy I have a few words to say regarding the effects.

Firstly it works. I don't believe this to be a placebo effect, as I've tried many other remedies for various ills, and none have delivered the amazing results that urine therapy has in just three months. My previously constant urinary tract irritation has disappeared at last, and my body feels much stronger. Recently I took an overseas trip where I was surrounded by people with the flu starting with all the air hostesses on the way out and culminating with most of my family upon my return. I didn't catch it, which for me is quite amazing, especially considering the stress I was under.

I find it perplexing that some reviewers and 'medical experts' are so dismissive of this therapy claiming that there is no scientific evidence to prove that it works. This seems to fly in the face of the fact that urine derivatives are used in a host of medicines that are prescribed by 'medical experts', and bought over the pharmaceutical counter by countless 'normal' people who would never entertain the idea of ingesting their own urine. However, horse urine or urine from other people (or derivatives thereof) are deemed (perhaps unknowingly) as perfectly acceptable. Go figure!

My advice to all of you out there who are suffering from chronic ailments that are unresponsive to orthodox therapy is go and buy this book, read it, and give the therapy a go. After all what do you have to lose? Even the most rabid 'expert' detractors will admit that it does no harm.

But do read the book before you start swilling down gallons of your own urine, as there are circumstances where a homeopathic dose, or rubbing on the skin is preferable to drinking. Especially if you happen to be on potent drugs of any sort.

Keep your mind open, and good luck!

I was enormously impressed by this book. Its author strikes me as a responsible and highly intelligent person who has made an important discovery and wishes, for humanitarian reasons, to make it known to the world.

Kroon first became interested in urine therapy in India after sustaining a serious injury to his foot. When instead of healing, the foot gradually grew worse, someone suggested that he use urine compresses. Having nothing to lose he decided to give it a try and it worked! He then set about researching the subject, both in India and the West, and 'The Golden Fountain The Complete Guide to Urine Therapy' brings us the fruits of his research and his years of practical experience.

Although not a large book it's packed with an enormous amount of fascinating and valuable information, too much to even begin to adequately describe. After a brief Introduction, Kroon takes up the history of Urine therapy in both the West where it was used to cure innumerable complaints in earlier centuries and in the East.

Urine, we learn, has anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-cancer properties. Also, by strengthening the immune system and correcting the imbalance which underlies most disease, it can in many cases help to cure just about anything, and it has other valuable properties too.

A chapter on Applications is included which describes the various ways urine can be used, both internally and externally, to promote health, beauty, longevity, and even sexual potency! Detailed instructions are given on drinking, bathing, gargling, douching, eye and ear drops, sniffing, massage, compresses, rubbings, foot and hip baths, scalp and hair massages, and other applications.

Chapter 5 is devoted to the 'Medical and Scientific Aspects of Urine Therapy.' In it we learn that urine, far from being the nasty stuff most of us suppose, is a veritable natural pharmacy. It is a sterile liquid, filtered from the blood by our kidneys, and consists of energized structured water plus upwards of some 200 substances.

Among these substances are such things as amino acids, proteins, enzymes, vitamins (thiamine, riboflavin, B6,B12, ascorbic acid, etc.), hormones (gonadotropin, vasopressin, cortisone, testosterone, oestrogen, etc.) urea, allantoin, DHEA, H-11, HUD, Interleukin, prostaglandin, and so on.

Some of these are in fact being extracted from urine by today's pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, repackaged, and sold to us under various names though without of course telling us where they came from. Chapter 5 concludes with a 60-item bibliography of the scientific literature.

The book then moves on to a section of personal testimonies from people around the world who have experienced the remarkable health-promoting powers of urine therapy. Their general attitude is pretty well summed up by one gentleman from India who wrote: "Urine therapy is the gift of God a panacea for human beings and animals" (page 80).

Kroon's is a remarkably rich and interesting book, contains much about the How's and Why's and Wherefore's that I haven't been able to touch on here, and it can be heartily recommended to all open-minded readers. The book is also extremely well written, has a useful general bibliography, and contains a number of interesting photographs, including one of the author.

His glowing complexion would be the envy of many, and you'd be hard put to find a more vibrant, healthy-looking and bright-eyed individual. One begins to feel that, if this is what urine therapy can do for one's health, well-being, and appearance it might just be worth a try!

Modern science may be a wonderful thing but take it from me nothing beats a nice cup of your own urine.

For those who find drinking one's own urine revolting, then why do you eat meat products which have rotten blood (urine comes from blood that is alive) and bacteria from the animals intestines (beef and pork) which permeates and "ages" the meat and makes it taste good?

Urine is liquid which has been flowing through your veins in the past few minutes and is filtered of impurities by the liver and passed on to your bladder as antiseptic and has no bacteria in it as does the blood and meat of the beef, pork, chicken and other animal products you eat. Urine has no connection to the fecal material that is processed in a different manner and those who try to connect the two are unable to reason correctly.

Ingesting urine was a very difficult decision but after doing a lot of research I finally took the plunge, so to speak. Within three weeks the athlete's foot condition that I've had for 60 years disappeared (yeah, I tried the oral prescription medicine for six months, and had toenails removed, and that didn't work), pre-cancer conditions have both disappeared and receded (as verified by a dermatologist), burning eyes and night sensitivity to light a 70+ year condition are totally gone. There are also many other benefits I could mention but these are just a few, and this is after just two months of using it.

For those who want to upchuck at the thought of drinking their own urine, then why has it been done with significant benefits with no adverse effects for thousands of years? Our Western view of "dirt" has produced a sick, antiseptic, antibiotic world which is producing super disease that the drug companies can no longer keep up with. When you lose your health (which many who read this will eventually do) you will kick the MD's in their wallet and seek real healing modularities of which urine therapy is but one.

This is by far the best book there is on the subject of urine therapy.

this is for those people instantly disgusted by the idea of drinking a warm glass of urine in the morning.

1stly the treatment can also be done with drops under the tongue, starting with 1 on the first day and progressing. I have not read this particular book (have read Harald Tietze's "Urine the Holy Water") and he outlines different methods of taking it.

I write the review for this book because I see so many people bagging this method of treatment.

I had a skin problem on my genitals since the age of 4. I was on modern medicine for most of my life, and have been hit with every kind of antibiotics and cream you can imagine (which has all built up in my body and caused other problems). In short nothing worked. I changed first my diet to organic veggies and fruits, cut out all the junk, then moved to alternative therapies tried the parasite zapping (see Hulda Clarkes books) and the herbal teas, oxygen supplements, colloidal silver, colloidal minerals, wheatgrass, the whole works. All of these are fantastic things and have really helped my body regain it's vitality I cannot remember feeling so good at any point in my life. But still the skin rash persisted...... Last week bought the urine book. Got over my squeamishness and started drinking a glass full every morning. I aint gonna be all girly about it and do the drops under the tongue, gonna do the whole thing! 5 days later... skin rash gone. No bullsh*t.

Now apart from the recycling of hormones, amino acids, etc... my personal theory of why it works is that it's kind of a feedback thing. The first two days of taking it I could taste it all day, very strange feeling (but tastes better than wheatgrass anyway). I think as it passes through the thyroids your body gets a chance to reanalyse itself and then make adjustments. Just a theory... but remember ALWAYS that science is incomplete, there is still much we cannot explain. Most doctors and scientists tend to claim something doesn't work or exist if they can't explain it... eventually they can though and grudgingly they have to face the fact that the particular person of the time making these remarkable claims was right. It has happened so many times in history, every great mind that has influenced the way we now view the world was initially ridiculed.

So get over yourselves and if you haven't tried it, don't knock it until you do. Fine don't believe it works, but don't deny it to other people either because you have no experience of it, so YOU CANNOT KNOW.

Good Nursing Home Care : 10 Things You Need to Know

Good Nursing Home Care : 10 Things You Need to KnowMy mother is aging before my eyes and I have not known who to ask and receive straight, honest, reliable facts regarding what is best for my mom. It is always difficult making decisions when we are out of our expertise. Patty Robinson is very thorough explaining all aspects of nursing home care. I did not want to get the education of such facilities at the expense of my ignorance which would have impacted the last phase of my mom's life in a negative way. Thank you, Patty Robinson. Her father was a very lucky man to have a daughter who knew how to best help him at the end of his life.

Ms. Robinson's book provides the information I wish I would have had a decade ago when I had a grandmother in a nursing home facility for over 20 years. At that time we were totally at the mercy of the facility and had very little recourse if there was a problem. Such information would have been an invaluable help in the process. I appreciated the conciseness of her information as well as the inclusion of her personal experience, and as my aging mother my soon need help in making similar choices, I know I will use this book as a resource.

Home Bodybuilding: Three Easy Steps for Building Your Body and Changing Your Life

Home Bodybuilding: Three Easy Steps for Building Your Body and Changing Your LifeI've read the reviews on this site about Home Bodybuilding and have a few observations people may find helpful.

First of all...

1) If a book is rated five stars, look to see if it's rated with just one five star rating or many. Chances are, if there's more than one glowing review, many other people have found the book equally as helpful.

2) When there are negative reviews, check and see how many there are and if there are commonalites between each of them.

I bought this book many months ago along with the Men's Fitness Home Workout book and have found each to have their strengths and weaknesses.

While the Men's Fitness book has more photos and exercises, it lacks much of the periphery elements of the mental components of motivation and just how hard it is for many of us to get started and stay motivated working out--especially at home AND by yourself...HELLO!

I like both both books very much. There must be a reason why amazon.com pairs Home Bodybuilding with the Men's Fitness book. They compliment each other quite well.

Finally, I'd like to give a few observations on what the reviewer "Judge Knott" wrote regarding the Home Bodybuilding book and how this reviewer must not have read the same book I'm looking at right now as I write this review. Specifically:

"There are many exercises shown that can only be done if one has access to expensive, complicated gym machines. (Yo! Isn't this supposed to be for h-o-m-e workouts?)"

If this reviewer would've read the book and understood its purpose, the author Robert Wolff states in clear language that he wants to give readers exercises they can do with freeweights (barbells and dumbbells), without weights (bodyweight only), with machines (if they have those in their home), and even informercial equipment.

"There is a sloppiness and an imprecision in the way many of the exercises are described."

I've got a library full of nutrition, exercise and physiology books and the exercise descriptions and illustrations Wolff uses in Home Bodybuilding match how the others illustrate how the exercises Wolff Describes should be done.

"The whole book is written at a reading level equivalent to that found in "The National Enquirer" or "The New York Post."

I'm reminded of a quote that a 20-plus million copy bestselling author once said, "Don't worry; If you write for the seventh grader, the Ph.D. will understand it too."

"It's also filled with cheerful, peppy, Oprah-like self-help sayings and anecdotes that recall Dale Carnegie in an extremely good mood. They bored and annoyed me."

Look at the other reviews who seem to greatly enjoy this author's writing style. Then click on reviewer Judge Knott's other reviews. For such a scathing review of this book, it was surprising how many of this person's reviews fall into the scope of fine arts and NOT nutrition, fitness or health. Perhaps returning Home Bodybuilding and getting a book on the order of the "New York Metropolitan Ballet of Workouts" might be a better fit?

My purpose is not to deride of belittle the above reviewer. All of us are entitled to our own opinions. However, when coming to this review forum, my only request is that any of us have a fully formed and educated opinion that doesn't selectively omit the good or not so desirable points of any book. That way, we can all learn and be helped by what anyone says--good or bad.

For my money, Home Bodybuilding was money well spent. Thanks for letting me have my two cents worth. Best to all!

Gluten Free Lifestyle: A Health Guide, Shopping & Home Tips, 66 Easy Recipes

Gluten Free Lifestyle: A Health Guide, Shopping & Home Tips, 66 Easy RecipesAs I searched Google then Amazon wanting to learn what a gluten free diet entails, I came across the "The Gluten Free Diet" kindle book written by the author of the popular "Paleo Diet Solution."

While reading this book which contains many appetizing gluten free recipes, I learned what caused my nasal congestion and fatigue. A real-world example which made me understand this gluten-free idea is that when I would occasionally drink a beer, which is full of gluten, my sinuses would get congested almost immediately and I could never figure out why before.

Wheat, Rye and Barley are just a few gluten ingredients that are hidden in most of the food we consume according to Chatam's book.

I was not aware of the many symptoms caused by eating gluten-containing foods: ADD, Depression, Anemia and more. The book explains the cause of celiac disease; the most extreme condition linked to consuming gluten. For celiacs, this book is a must-have. I found many examples of celiac friendly foods along with celiac recipes that taste very good.

The most interesting fact about going grain free, is that after 3-4 weeks of eliminating gluten from my diet, I actually felt detoxified, full of energy and am now sleeping better. Some people spend hundreds of dollars visiting a physician, trying to cure problems that could be solved by just purchasing this book. I highly recommend that you eliminate gluten from your diet also, this book will show you how.

With time being my most precious commodity, when I delve into a book I'm hoping to finish it and leave feeling seriously informed. This text definitely walked that walk. To begin with, it showed me how little I actually knew about gluten and its overall effect on everyday health, and more importantly, why that's not a good thing. The problems mentioned that can arise for those needing to pay attention to their gluten intake were depression, frequent respiratory infections, delayed puberty, and trouble with memory and concentration once again, I had no idea! Another rarity this text has to offer in my opinion was the honesty in its presentation. To wit: "The Gluten-Free diet is not necessarily a weight-loss diet." Now, who dares to say that these days? This is much more a health book than a diet book, which is a refreshing change. Add to that an in-depth look into Celiac disease (gluten based problem), an extensive list of "allowed" and "not allowed" foods, a resource section, an extensive recipe section, a craving replacement section (pretty hip), and a how to recognize where gluten is anywhere (even outside foods) in your environment section, and you've got a text definitely worth checking out. Gluten-free is definitely a learning curve, but looks to be well worth the time.

If you have to go gluten-free, this is the book to show you the ropes. The author has provided a comprehensive education on gluten intolerance and what can be done about it―the medical facts; its proliferation in manufactured foods; the downside of gluten consumption and the world of prepared foods; practical steps to removing it from your diet.

Chatham addresses the chief obstacles to diet change: stress, monetary expense, inconvenience, time-consuming preparation and―perhaps the worst offender―unappetizing food. The book contains recipes for soups, salads, breads, snacks and entrees, as well as links to thousands more online. In addition, the reader will find an alphabetized list of foods and substances that contain gluten and a separate list of foods that are allowed.

What the author clearly wanted to do with this well-researched book was to take all the labor and guesswork out of going "gluten free in the real world." Everything is dealt with: eating out, shopping challenges, grain substitutes, weight loss and the prospect of improved health.

I found the book to be informative and readable. I recommend it not only for those with gluten intolerance but for everyone who wants to improve their dietary health.

This book is great for anyone looking to learn more about a gluten free lifestyle. It has an abundance of helpful tips about the symptoms and signs to look for if you have an allergy to wheat. It also differentiates between gluten sensitivity, wheat allergies, and celiac disease. For those who exhibit any of these symptoms, the author highly recommends that you get tested for celiac disease, especially before going on the gluten free diet.

This book is less about losing weight and more about living a healthier, and well informed life. I appreciated this as someone who is familiar with various of the fad diets out there now. I was surprised to learn that things like anemia, and even depression could exist because of a strong intolerance to wheat.

Beyond the various helpful tips, this book also has 66 "Easy Recipes", which include some things you might have thought you would have to take out of your diet altogether. There are savory recipes for pizza and cheese risotto, along with sweets like brownies and carrot cake. This isn't about giving up certain foods and natural cravings, it's about changing your all around eating habits and taking notice of the effect certain foods may have on your body.

I highly recommend this for all those interested in learning more about a "gluten free life".

One of the biggest challenges of living a gluten free lifestyle is finding and sticking to a diet that is convenient and cost effective while still allowing for good food. The Gluten Free Lifestyle accomplishes this and more while still satisfying your inner gourmet.

The Gluten Free Lifestyle does more than lay out an easy to follow gluten-free diet. It helps the reader understand the way gluten works and those of us with gluten allergies handle it. It alerts readers to the "hidden gluten" used in the processing of food and present in household items like soap and glue. Finally, it helps the reader "gluten proof" their diet and plan gluten free meals at home and eating out while still accommodating non-gluten free friends and family members.

The recipes are what make this book stand out from similar dieting books. Gluten Free Lifestyle not only tells you what foods you can't have, it gives you healthy and delicious alternatives. As someone who enjoys cooking, I appreciated the gluten to non-gluten flour substitution guide and the recipes within satisfied me and my non-gluten free family. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert are all accounted for; everything from fruit filled breakfast crepes to chicken stir fry to gluten free carrot cake.

Restoring, Tuning & Using Classic Woodworking Tools

Restoring, Tuning & Using Classic Woodworking ToolsI only recieved this book this morning, I began reading and can now thouroughly recommend this book to anyone who, for example has ever seen Norm Abram at work and thought 'Hey that's not fair. He's got $10,000 worth of power tools at least' Well this has to be the guide for those who wish to find, restore, and use old tools. I grew up with quality handtools around me and can tell this guy knows what he's talking about. The majority of this book is dedicated to planes but I never realised just how many kinds there are! A must for anyone you know who heads for the 'rusty tool box' at flea markets and yard sales. I'd love to know what you think about this book too. Happy reading!

After searching for books in this subject, I was very pleased to finally find a book that went into the depth of not only restoring, but plane and other tool usage. This book was intended for the antique tool collector who chooses to use their tools not place them on a display shelf and accept them "as is." If you are looking for old tools needing repair for many more years of use, then this is the book for you. Michael Dunbar has done an excellent job putting his knowledge on paper for the reader's benefit.

Dunbar's book is one of the best when it comes to repairing just about any antique tool. He patiently and thoroughly describes how to repair most any hand tools you'll come across. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to learn how to restore antique hand tools. It should be noted that Dunbar now uses a different method to sharpen plane and chisel irons, etc. However, this is widely available in magazines. Highly recommended.

The tools being old, not necessarily the collectors. The vast preponderance of space is taken up with hand planes. While some attention is paid to other tools, if you do not have a plane collection, this is a costly book for topics that are covered in tons of books. The general info on sharpening and cleaning is not unique to this book. But the coverage on hand planes may not be equaled elsewhere.
