Cancer-Free: Your Guide to Gentle, Non-toxic Healing

Cancer-Free: Your Guide to Gentle, Non-toxic HealingI found this book while searching online for information to help a friend diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer (metastasized) two years ago. Thankfully, she took the information in the earlier version of this book and RAN with it! One year later, she was cancer free without the need for surgery, chemo, or radiation. She believes the diet changes and supplement regimen helped save her life. I have implemented many of the recommendations in my own routine to help prevent cancer and other illness. Cannot recommend this book highly enough! The only frustration is knowing so many others who are diagnosed with cancer or have pre-cancer symptoms who are not willing to make the necessary changes to their diets and lifestyle even when presented with this information. I encourage you to take responsibility for your health and this book will get you started in the best possible direction!

This book, Cancer-Free, is an EXCELLENT source of information for anyone looking into alternative treatments for cancer. It is thorough, well organized, and accurate. It is an absolute must have for everyone's library! It will appeal to a wide range of readers, from a layperson with no medical knowledge to experienced medical doctors. It is exceptionally well written and is also comprehensive. All of the information needed for multiple alternative cancer treatments is included . . . and much more.

And you won't be confused by a bunch of medical "gobbley-gook." Bill Henderson's style of writing is very understandable and his knowledge of alternative cancer treatments is truly amazing. As a matter of fact, I utilized much of Bill Henderson's research when writing my own book on cancer. But Bill is not only one of the most knowledgeable cancer researchers he is also a compassionate man who genuinely cares about cancer patients. His goal is to help others cure their cancer, and he has dedicated his life to this mission. Such a combination of knowledge with compassion makes this author a "cut above" the rest.

My recommendation: BUY THIS BOOK . . . you won't regret it.

I read the first edition of Cancer-Free last year, and I wish I had been exposed to the book a year and a half earlier before my mother was consumed by cancer and medicine side-effects. People everywhere ought to open their eyes to what all this cancer business is about. I did, in good part because of this book. People shouldn't wait to get cancer or have someone in their family suffer from it in order to get informed on the efficient, painless treatments and prevention of the disease.

I recommend you do yourself a potentially life-saving favor and read this book, absorb it, and tell those you care for of this information. If you're healthy, learn to keep your health and refrain from becoming part of the 'War On Cancer' statistics. I plan on getting the second edition soon for a great re-read and learning of updated information.

This is an incredible book. I bought six copies (in addition to my own) to give as gifts. My book has lots of yellow highlights and writing in the margins. I was told three and one half months ago that I was beyond hope. I am still here and on -0medication and I am doing really, really well. In fact, I went off my pain meds in nine days. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. It will tell you how to help your body to heal itself. The body was indeed designed to heal itself. And if you do not have this wonderful dis-ease, it will tell you how to prevent ever getting it. The doctor was scornful. (No one likes their living threatened.) So I found another doctor. The world is a better place because Bill Henderson was here.

In July of 2005 biopsies confirmed that I had two malignant breast tumors. I was determined to not go the traditional way with radiation and chemo, so I started an intense search of books and websites. When I finally found Bill Henderson and his book "Cancer Free", I knew I had found the right protocol for me. A lumpectomy (which he did not recommend) found only one tumor and it had become very tiny. I have followed Bill's directions ever since and today I feel like a new person. At 81 I live alone, do all my own house work and gardening, and tell everyone that Bill Henderson is my hero. I either buy the book for my friends, or urge them to get their own. I'm looking forward to reading his new book. I know it will be a blessing also.

Making Sauerkraut and Pickled Vegetables at Home: Creative Recipes for Lactic Fermented Food to Impr

Making Sauerkraut and Pickled Vegetables at Home: Creative Recipes for Lactic Fermented Food to Improve Your HealthA clear and simple guide to basic sauerkraut and brine pickles. The book does discuss health aspects of lactic acid fermentation, but what distinguishes this book in my mind is its clear description of the process. The authors leave you with enough understanding to experiment and troubleshoot for yourself. Great fun--my first couple of batches were consumed by German friends who had been forced to eat the pasturized stuff for too long.

Even though this is a thin book, this is packed with information basically everything you need to get you started.

The author(s) talk about why people make sauerkraut/pickles, a little bit about their use in various ancient and more modern cultures and how pickles saved the sailors from scurvy starting with 18th century, when ships started carrying them.

Sauerkraut/pickles are fermented foods, and the fermentation happens because of lacto-bacteria (named like that because they were first discovered in milk/dairy products). Actually, there are two types of them: for milk products and for vegetables. Organic products have more bacteria and ferment easier. Raw (i.e. unpasterized) milk sours by itself; pasteurized milk spoils... The white film you can find on organic veggies (e.g. plums, cabbage) is lacto-bacteria. Those bacteria and fermented products in general are beneficial for digestion.

The best container for fermentation is Harsch search the web to see it. I learned from this book that the white yeast that appears over open fermentation pots is actually harmless, just it has a bad taste.

It is easier to get better results with more veggies or with more types of plants versus one type only. Salt is needed for fermentation, authors say, to allow veggies to withstand a couple of days without decay until fermentation begins. If you have organic veggies, or good container (such as Harsch), there is less need for it. Whey could also be substituted, but not fully (i.e. you still need some salt).

What else is in the book? The spices, of course. And some therapeutical applications of pickles.

And, last but not least, some recipes that seem interesting to me.

This is a great book. If you want to learn why fermented foods are so much better for you than pastuerized and heated products along with learning how to prepare them yourself, then this book is for you. It even describes a crock that eliminates all chances of spoilage or maintenance. The contents are sealed from the air the whole time the contents are fermenting. You can even use less salt. The finished product comes out crisp, fresh, and with incredible flavor.

This book does exactly what the cover promises. The layout and format is clean and the flow of information is logical as well as being easy to digest.

Not only does this little book go into details of pickling cabbages and other veggies, it does you one better. There is extensive treatment on the healthful advantages of eating cultered vegetables. For example, did you know that eating a pound of sauerkraut a day for three months, will shrink and remove colon polyps?

Then just when you think you couln't cram any more information into a little book, you are given some great ideas on what to do with your lacto-fermented foods, in a recipe section. All in all, a much better experience than "Wild Fermentation" and absolutely no political axe to grind.

If you are looking for a no-nonesense introduction to making your own lactic fermented food, then you are in the right place.

Want Making Sauerkraut and Pickled Vegetables at Home: Creative Recipes for Lactic Fermented Food to Impr Discount?

I was too hasty in ordering to see that there's only 64 pages in this "book" in the product description. There are very few fermentation recipes. A majority of the recipes are what you can make with your sauerkraut after it's done fermenting.

I already have Nourishing Traditions and Wild Fermentation, two books with much more information and many more recipes. I was disappointed with this book as I didn't read anything that I already didn't know. What was in here is good info if you don't have either of the two books (which I highly recommend you make a space for in your collection). So the quality is good, it's the quantity to price ratio that is lacking as it's nothing you couldn't find in web articles, recipe sites or Youtube videos.

The People's Pharmacy Quick and Handy Home Remedies: Q&As for Your Common AilmentsTHE PEOPLE'S PHARMACY:

Quick & Handy Home Remedies

(Q&As for your common ailments)

By: Joe and Terry Graedon

These are strange and frequently disturbing times, times when a source of entertainment frequently tells you the medicine your doctor wants you to "try" well there's a strong possibility it might kill you. Kill you, cause blindness, render skin rashes or heart stoppage.

This is not to say you should distrust your doctor or his medicines, but ideal, before you might meet an unfriendly medicine, you could encounter a home remedy, say an ounce of vinegar, soaking your raisins in sloe gin one which could keep you away from the medicine altogether. It was affirming when I learned my new doctor also takes the Joe and Terry Graedon's email newsletter.

The book is divided into three parts Home Remedies for specific ailments, Favorite Foods, and their nutritional bonuses and finally, Eating for Health.

The Joe and Terry Graedon are not physicians but scholars who hold graduate and doctoral degrees respectively. This book will compliment any family bookcase as a helpful guide to what ails you, when your complaint isn't life threatening.

Part I, (sample cases)

Complaint: Canker Sores -Aloe vera, baking soda, baking soda, buttermilk, green beans, kiwi, Mylanta even styptic pencil. They present a letter from a sufferer, and then they offer their response. It's valuable to hear the patient's complaints and helpful to be able to try some of the suggested solutions. They present instances from acne to wound card.

Complaint: Plantar Fasciitis, solutions using cherry juice, others using fish oil came in.

Complaint: Heartburn brought solutions from using almonds, baking soda, banana, broccoli even chewing gum.

Complaint: Nail Fungus was controlled with cornmeal, dandruff shampoo, hydrogen peroxide, iodine. Listerine, urine and Tea Tree Oil.

Second portion, Part I, Favorite Foods

From coffee through mustard, pineapple to hot peppers, cinnamon to cherries, they have chosen 24 in all. For instance, oolong tea has been helpful for fibromyalgia.

Part II: Fine a discussion on certain popular diets and some menu suggestions along with select recipes.

In these times when so many lack medical insurance, an investment in this book might be a good idea.

I have already had occasion to pull the book out twice and look for a home remedy (once for a burn and once for a leg cramp)...and both worked great! There are many things that happen in our daily lives that are annoying and/or painful, but do not merit a doctor's visit. This book is easy to use and great for these occurences!

I so enjoy this book. I've looked up so many helpful things that give good perspective. I deal with a heart condition (pacemaker), osteoporosis and cholesterol. So proper foods and natural treatments are vitally important to me.

I highly recommend this book to those who are interested in a natural approach to daily self-care.

Kudos to the Pharmacy people for putting out books like these. So many people want to try out homeopathic remedies before having to see a doctor for what may be a minor problem. A very useful book.

Details Men's Style Manual: The Ultimate Guide for Making Your Clothes Work for You

Details Men's Style Manual: The Ultimate Guide for Making Your Clothes Work for YouThe main reason I purchased this item was for its numerous illustrations. Just about every page has a full color picture of clothes. From a glance I can tell just how long a blazer should be. Or perhaps how long a sweater's sleeves should fall when wearing it over top of a collared shirt.

I use this book as a reference manual on how clothes should fit. Need to buy a new tuxedo? Turn to the formal wear section and read up! It also gives you a few basic ideas on how to wear things. For instance, how to match a shirt and tie with jeans and a blazer. It won't tell you exactly how to wear things but just offer you guidelines with some great pictures.

For the $20 this book costs you get a free 1 year subscription to Details Magazine ($10 value) along w/ a ton of up to date information (Published October of 2007) so it's definitely worth it.

This book should become standard issue for every man after college, if not high school. While style and fashion is a very personal and very individual process, it pays to understand men's clothing.

Chapters are broken down by article of clothing, from shirts, pants, jeans and polos to coats, gloves, hats and leather, everything is covered. And it is all explained in a very direct, excuse me ladies, but man's kind of way, like reading a car manual almost. It is as good a read all the way through as it is a quick reference guide. In fact, it's as a reference guide that this book really shines. When dressing for any occasion, a quick flip through the book can help you choose the appropriate attire for any event, while feeling both confident in your look and comfortable in your attire.

All in all, men and the women who shop for men's clothing should check this out especially if you want to start filling your closet with a wardrobe that is ready for anything. Great job, Details.

Covers the basics very well, and gives quite a few ideas on how to change things up. Also includes a card for a free year (or year extention) to a Details subscription. Worth the money.

EDIT: Just went back through parts of the book again, and forgot to mention one key item. There are several points in the book where they suggest a new way/item to try, with 3 different levels of "difficulty", for example, wearing a sport coat with a tie, then a sport coat with jeans, etc. Something I hadn't seen mentioned before, even in their mag, and it's a great idea.

Like most other guys, I'm an imbecile when it comes to fashion. Luckily, I realized this recently and started trying to correct the problem. The Details Manual is a book I picked up, seeing that ratings-wise, it was the best selection. I'm really impressed with it. The book contains guides and models on what should be a mans closet; it touches on most subjects regarding a mans wardrobe options: Jeans, Shirts, Blazers, Suits, etc. The book gives you the basic parts of clothes, and how they should fit. I'll use the first chapter (shirts) as an example; first is shirt basics (parts of the shirt: cuffs, collars, etc.), it goes on to shirt options giving a few examples of decently nice shirts, after examples it tells you the characteristics of a perfect fit like how it should feel like when sitting down, from here it goes to collar types, dressing options, a kind of challenge for the chapter (challenges are on every chapter), and finally ends with the don'ts of shirts (EX. Don't unbutton your shirt too far, and it tells you why). I don't really agree with the person who said this book is for 20 to 30 year olds, I think this is a great, standard manual so to speak, for a man at any age, thats my opinion though.

I recently made a resolution to stop dressing like I'm in college and to start dressing my age, so I picked this book up on recommendation of a friend. The best thing about this book are the excellent photos showing different outfits. I passed up buying some of the "classic" style guides that didn't have good photos. Not all of their recommendations are "me", but it has been very helpful in establishing a good baseline for beginning to build a wardrobe.

The Doctors Book of Home Remedies for Children: From Allergies and Animal Bites to Toothaches and TV

The Doctors Book of Home Remedies for Children: From Allergies and Animal Bites to Toothaches and TV Addiction, Hundreds of Doctor-Proven Techniques and Tips to Care for Your ChildThis is a small paperback with very densely printed pages. It's not for those with poor eyesight, and it's not beautiful. But it's packed with information and advice to help a parent know what to do in a variety of situations and when to call the doctor. I have three small children, and the advice to me looks sound and sensible.

This should be called "Prevention's Book of What You Can Buy At A Pharmacy". There are actually no home remedies. I would expect to find things like tea tree oil for acne, or a salt solution or garlic for an ear infection. Instead, it advises you to buy benzoyl peroxide or see a doctor for acne and warm water (and a doctor!) for an ear ache. As if people would never think to go to Walgreens and buy some zit cream! There is no mention of things we would actually have on hand to treat symptoms. It appears that every illness mentioned in the book will either resolve itself or you need to see a doctor. I cannot understand why buying drugs would be considered a home remedy unless you live in a pharmacy.

If you want to buy a book for a new mother that will actually help, buy one of the "What to Expect" books. I have used them many times when I was a new mother.
