Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Secrets, 3e

I am a 4th year medical student persuing PM&R and this is therefore a great book for the detailed basics. Concise enough that it's not sufficient for a board review for a resident but not so basic that you won't learn anything. Good Q/A format.

Purchased this recently as I had been using the 2nd edition since I was a 4th year medical student thinking about going into PM & R. Like others in the Secrets series its Q & A format allows for a more interactive way of review and learning than the classical method of book learning. The citations of literature after each question when applicable is a nice touch and efforts to utilize evidence based medicine are appreciated. The 3rd edition is noticeably denser than the 2nd edition as well, the font is smaller, lines are smaller, and the book is a lot more dense.

The biggest problem I have is that the 3rd edition has gone to a horrible quality newspaper like paper. The older Secrets books used a nice white paper with crisp fonts that allowed for easier reading. The font as mentioned above is significantly smaller, making longer reading sessions difficult. Therefore what would have been a 4 star book easily or better, only gets a 3 due to readability.

Here's to hoping that the 4th edition if it does come out goes back to the old Secrets font and paper format which was much more enjoyable to read.

Terence Conran's Garden DIY: Over 75 Projects and Design Ideas for Making the Most of Your Garden

Terence Conran's GARDEN DIY (do it yourself) contains 75 doable projects from a child's play house to various other wood, stone, brick, terracotta, and cement projects for your outside garden rooms. Conran shows several examples for each garden structure (pergolas, trellises, arbors, fences, patios, paths, ponds, and plant containers) with complete instructions for at least one example in each set.

For example, the section showing a variety of seating arrangements, includes a complete set of instructions for making a very pretty yellow painted garden bench with slatted 1"x1" rails. One needs to review the instructions before determining whether the materials and/or tools are on hand or available, but Conran tells the reader exactly what s/he will need for each illustrated project.

I borrowed the book from the library and decided not to purchase it because the items Conran illustrates do not meet my particular needs. Currently, I am looking for instructions for a garden screen to restrict my view of the next-door neighbor's yard. While Conran includes a few items that would fit the definition of a garden screen his examples do not match what I have in mind. I needed a screen in another part of the yard where I was less worried about blocking sunlight (against a fence for example) his illustrations would prove more helpful.

The best sections of the book from my perspective include his great illustrations for hen-houses/bird houses. These fowl shelters are so beautiful I would build one but I live in an area that does not allow chickens--even ornate feathered pet chickens. His examples of garden houses are also beautiful but I don't need a garden house because I already have one.

If you're just beginning to create structures for your outdoor rooms and think you may want to "do it yourself" you'll find plenty of ideas in this book.

P90X Fitness Guide - Book Only

This book I like more the price was right and it was ship out very fast . This book broke down the p90 x system it's really not needed if you have the D V D . P 90X is a killer of a plan

I bought P90X's Nutrition Guide and the Fitness Guide and both booklets look as though they were translated into English by someone who clearly doesn't know English! Every other sentence is filled with typos and it makes the guides extrememly difficult to follow. Periods are placed where commas should be. Several sentences don't have any spaces in between any of the words. SO MANY WORDS are misspelled one has to guess at the meaning and intent of the author. I am not sure what kind of black-market, joke product I was sold, but I have compared the guides I received to the REAL booklets that come from P90X's website and they are NOT the same. It's almost as though someone who doesn't know English was trying to make a "boot-leg" copy of these products.

I bought the DVDs via eBay and they arrived from China without any documentation. Because this is a pretty intense program, I wanted to make sure that I was doing it right, so I ordered the book. It tells you what you need to know, which is how often to do which workouts. I'm much happier with the program because of the book.

This is the best book I have ever read in my life. It contains some much helful information on a wide variety of subjects. It has changed many of my current practices and continues to give me advice. It should be a recommended book to read in high school because everyone in the world should read and own a copy of this book. You should not have any doughts in purchasing this book.

For me this book has served to be very educational and is what motivated me to make a few lifestyle changes to help improve the quality of myself and family. It's mind boggling to know that there's so many harmful chemicals out there. But it's just as relaxing to know that there's alternatives that you can use. The amount of references given in the book is awesome and Ms. Dadd should be accredited for such a fine book!

This book contains great information about a wide range of ways to go green. from cleaning to home repair and landscaping/lawn and garden care it has it all. The only down side is the index is pathetic. I was not able to easily reach the info I was looking for with out reading the entire section I thought it might be located in. overall I love the info just not the organization techniques.
