I downloaded this book to my kindle library in minutes. I received great information in a quick format. The basic bottom line about hair, hair care and maintenance all in a matter of 20 minutes. I didn't know what to expect when I began reading but soon learned that this is a how to guide that makes you fall in love with your hair all over again. This book is such a great gift to give to the young, who are just starting out doing their hair Independently.
Handbook of Home Health Standards and Documentation Guidelines for Reimbursement, 2nd Edition

With the often-confusing regulations and data gathering tools out there, at least we on the front lines have this portable manual to help us sort out our assessments and evaluations into the accurate coding and leveling criteria that supports what we do, what we observe, and allows for the appropriate revenue to support the levels of care our patients require. As OASIS data-gathering evolves, newer editions will be needed to keep up with the miriad of changes that will ensue, but at least here is a standard we can all make good use of, and I am willing to bet every nurse, from novice to manager, will find something in this manual that was not known or delineated as well to them in the past.
This manual would also make a wonderful teaching tool for nursing students. They may as well learn early on how intricate the data-gathering tools are in the real working world. Accurate notations on the OASIS forms can either make or break a case, not only regarding reimbursement, but as to whether the levels of care, and variety of disciplines, that you feel are needed, are allowed to provide services to your patient. Hasty and inaccurate translation of evaluations and assessments onto the OASIS forms results in inability to justify to Medicare that the levels of intervention you are requesting are appropriate.I have always used this handbook to train new home care nurses. It's compact enough to fit into their nursing bag and tote along on admissions. Be sure to order one for each nurse and therapist or they will get into a tug of war over themI love this book because, being in the home health industry you have to know what you're charting. If charting is lacking then you will not get the full reimbursement that you are entitled to. Thanks alot.A MUST resource guide for all nurses who work in the Home Health industry.I found this book very helpful when auditing charts in home health. Was able to pass on charting tips to meet Medicare guidelines.
Natural First Aid: Herbal Treatments for Ailments & Injuries/Emergency Preparedness/Wilderness Safet

Do you know that cayenne pepper can stop bleeding? Or that garlic can alleviate a toothache? Or that honey can soothe a burn?
I was impressed with NATURAL FIRST AID. It's easy to read and understand and there is nothing extreme about the natural remedies. I highly recommend it to everyone. The idea behind this book was good, and there was certainly plenty of good information in it for someone new to natural/homeopathic first aid. Unfortunately, I didn't find the format particularly constructive and I felt there were too many missing pieces for this to really be much help.
First of all, this book is set up only to supplement modern medical care. Each topic starts with criteria for seeking medical attention; that's fine, but not really in keeping with the wilderness safety or preparedness themes listed on the cover. Both those themes suggest a lack of available medical attention, which would be the primary motivation to look at natural alternatives in the first place.
More problematically, the book either takes for granted certain knowledge or assumes that you will do more explanatory supplemental research elsewhere. No form is given for many of the suggested herbal remedies, leaving one to wonder as to whether we're supposed to have stocked up on that at the health food store ahead of time or should know what it looks like in the wild and how to prepare it.
All things considered, there is some worthwhile information in here about how to respond to common health issues like overheating, bruises, sprains, poison ivy, etc., but I wouldn't consider it much of a functional on-hand reference. This informative book is written in such a way that it is easy to read and extremely informative with a perfect amount of photography. An excellent addition to any library.I am very into natural first aid so this book was such a great starter for me. I think many will enjoy it.
The First Year of Marriage: What to Expect, What to Accept, and What You Can Change

However, as I was reading this I realized that most of the principles discussed in the book regarding relationships could be applied to any couple. My marriage is going on 30 years, yet I still experienced several "Aha" moments.
Ms. Arond and Dr. Pauker exhibit tremendous insight, both through their research as well as, I imagine, a result of their own marriage. They employ sound statistical methods, but even more importantly for the reader, the examples that they use help the average reader identify with the subjects and identify their own potential strengths and weaknesses. Quite often we can see in others what we don't wish to look at in ourselves or in our own behavior. This volume helps us identify personally with these couples and to recognize that there is a little bit of each of these couples in each of us.
I highly recommend this volume to anyone who wishes to learn more about the dynamics of marriage. The authors successfully identify some of the common pitfalls as well as some very thoughtful solutions to marital problems. They touch on issues of economics, independence vs. interdependence, sex, intimacy, family and friends (among other things). The target audience is the newlywed couple, but the potential audience is far broader.

101 Games and Activities for Children With Autism, Asperger's and Sensory Processing Disorders

I hope this book can help you as much as it helped me. There's a lot of good stuff in here for $12."101 Games and Activities for Children with Autism, Asperger's, and Sensory Processing Disorders" is a compendium of practical games, exercises, and activities specially chosen or designed to enhance sensory integration and development in children with sensory processing disorders. The games are interactive, easy stimulating, and fun. Best of all, they will help the child to grow, learn social skills, and communicate. The model used by author Tara Delaney (M.S., OTR) is partially described as "Using three-dimensional learning as a way of imprinting preacademic and academic concepts in your child's repertoire of information will increase your child's opportunity for success in the classroom (p.138)." The book is divided into 10 chapters covering such areas as engagement, sensory development, gross and fine motor skills, communication, social sense, school readiness, home activities, outdoor activities, and adapting brand-name games. All the play-game activities are presented in a compact format that highlights aspects including whether the game is indoor/outdoor, equipment, how (first and second levels), purpose, and why. An excellent explanation of the Brain Library in the introduction explains the different areas of the brain catalogued for different types of learning, and how best to access them. Fundamental to Delaney's teaching philosophy is the discovery that "play has (an infinite) power to teach, develop, and connect children to the world (p. viii)." "101 Games and Activities for Children with Autism, Asperger's, and Sensory Processing Disorders" is an excellent resource for parents, teachers, and caretakers of children with sensory processing disorders. This is a nice book but there were not a lot of games under each section. I would recommend it more for home use.Great job by Tara Delaney for putting together such a great play-based book. Many parents, and professionals, are often at a loss for ideas when looking for purposeful ways to interact with children with ASD and other related disorders. I like the way the author broke down activities by sensory development, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, communication, social sense, school ready, home activities, and outdoor activities. A great addition was how she dedicated chapter on adapting brand-name games... so that a child could play traditional games in a modified way. My review would have been higher, but I feel the book lacks ideas for those on the spectrum with more severe, cognitive challenges. These parents, including myself, are looking for similar activities, but are often disappointed when the child is not an assumed level of understanding or functioning. So, as a result there is a great loss of interactive play in the home/social environments for these families. If Ms. Delaney took on this challenge in authoring another book of this caliber for that population, it would get 5 stars from me!This books has great activities for any typical child, but not for kids who are non-verbal or very low in their communication skills.
