I use this book to prepare for teaching CPR/first aid courses through for the Red Cross. I like how it is organized. It is straightforward, up to date and includes useful graphics and charts. It begins with the most life threatening conditions, (airway blockage, breathing emergencies etc.) and moves on to the less life threatening conditions. At the back of the book, one can find some specific chapters on topics such as asthma and allergic reactions.There are also some useful sections in this book about prevention of emergencies. I think everybody should be aware of this material. I particularly found ideas for preventing poisoning in children to be useful.
The focus of the book is on keeping a person alive and minimizing shock until more advanced medical help is available. If you are looking for information on wilderness survival, in situations where medical help is not likely to be nearby, you should refer to this book, but you will need to do additional research.
As an instructor, I would not accept this book from a student. Make sure you are using the 2011 version.

I bought this book used, but when it came it looked brand new. The shipping was a couple days earlier than the estimation as well. Overall I think I will purchase books from this provider again in the future.
