Hot (Sweaty) Mamas: Five Secrets to Life as a Fit Mom

Hot Mamas: Five Secrets to Life as a Fit MomIt gets 5 stars for getting me off the couch and training for my first 5 k! Anyone who knows me can tell you what an incredible feat that is. It's perfect for those of us who, in our minivans or mom-mobiles, drive by those joggers in their matching outfits and spandex and feel intimidated.

This is an incredible book; inspiring and entertaining without being pushy and judgmental.

As a (previously) non exercising mother I liked how it read. At some points it almost felt like they were in my living room talking about my piles of laundry stacking up and my kids running around. At one point they compared squeezing exercise into your day to squeezing that last box of waffles into the freezer after doing groceries. Who can't relate to that?

It encourages you to " treat your body as well as you treat your kids" .

It's a good, easy read and has some great advice.

The mom to mom quotes also gives you a sense of camaraderie. Ladies, we are not in this alone!!!!

I like the authors' practical approach to being a Fit Mom. The book includes suggestions for fitting workouts into family life as well as tips for handling spouses who may or may not support your athletic endeavors. I like the Mom2Mom sections where real moms 'fess up to some of the crazy things they've done in the name of post-natal exercise. (anyone else used your baby as a dumbell?)

The authors acknowledge the fact that some advice is just tired. "Work out while the baby sleeps" assumes that your baby will always sleep! Instead, the book offers suggestions for exercising with the baby and guilt-free motivation for leaving baby at home while you run, bike, swim etc.

This is an ok book if you are a new mom or a new mom to exercise. It is a definite motivator to get out the door and begin. I found it not advanced enough, not that I am an advanced exerciser or advanced mom! But great for someone just stating out.

Physical Best Activity Guide: Elementary Level - 3rd EditionThis book is a must have for any elementary PE teacher! I've found it very helpful bc of the printables. I have switched to using mostly station lessons bc of large class sizes and this book and cd has been a life saver!! It is also great if you are including standards in your lesson plans bc they are already listed for you with each lesson! So glad I spent the money...only wish I would've done it sooner. I also received it within a few days:)

Health Informatics: Practical Guide For Healthcare And Information Technology Professionals (Fifth E

Health Informatics: Practical Guide For Healthcare And Information Technology ProfessionalsAs a nurse in a leadership role, the mandated changes in health records are a challenge to navigate an organization through. In order to best position not only yourself, but also your organization, to be successful an accurate understanding of not only the legal requirements but also the technological advances and limitations is important. I had the opportunity to utilize this book working through my Medical Informatics program. This book is current, up to date, and incorporates the necessary technical information without being overwhelming to clinical individuals.

I actually had the pleasure of studying bioinformatics under Dr. Hoyt at the University of West Florida (UWF). There is a wealth of information packed into this book! It is current, incorporates the technical information needed for comprehensive knowledge of the field, and is understandable even to those on the periphery of the medical field (industrial hygienist). It's got me hooked...now I want to learn more. Who doesn't love a textbook under a $100 too?

Hey We're Dying Out Here: The Truth Behind The Trucker Shortage

Hey We're Dying Out Here: The Truth Behind The Trucker ShortageI have been driving long haul for almost 20 years and he has managed to say everything I ever wanted to say about the way we are treated out here. The only thing I would add is that women have it even harder out here. We all need safer places where we can walk and exercise. And better meals in the restaurants, more health conscious. It's a wonderful book and I recommend it to every truck driver on the road.
