The Ultimate Hairstyle Handbook: with over 40 step-by-step picture tutorials and haircare tips

The Ultimate Hairstyle Handbook: with over 40 step-by-step picture tutorials and haircare tipsI had been looking for a good hairstyle book for a long time and this was EXACTLY what I was looking for! All I wanted was some kind of step-by-step guide that could show me how to dress up my hair a bit so it wasn't so "blah" and boring all the time, yet still casual enough for everyday life...and maybe one or two ideas for fancier occasions too.

Every other hairstyle book out there I could find was either geared toward girls/teens, or had only very outdated styles, or was more about different hair cuts, or fancy, prom/wedding type updos. I have long, straight hair and just wanted to find everyday styles other than just wearing it down or putting it in a ponytail.

This book has so many great ideas AND step-by-step instructions for me to do the hairstyles on myself; no other person's help is needed. I also liked how there were some general tips on keeping your hair healthy and recommendations for styling products at the beginning.

AND, as a plus, I was introduced to the author's blog, which I have now been following. :)

The hairstyles are great, don't get me wrong. There's a good mix of "trendy" and "wear-to-work." But I feel the need to warn buyers that a) this is NOT a book for beginners; and b) this ONLY has hairstyles for very long hair. If you're like me and can't french braid your own hair or have longish medium-length hair, don't waste the money. Maybe I'm just uniquely useless at hairstyling, but that's why I bought a book! The photos are close-ups so it's hard to figure out where the model is positioning her hands, and because most of them are in black and white it can be difficult to figure out the precise instructions (the photo quality could be better). I have tried several of the "easier" styles on myself (bohemian, braid-bun) with absolutely no success.

If you have long hair and already have moderate hairstyling skill, you won't go wrong. But if your hair isn't six inches past your shoulders or you're just starting to experiment with your hair and struggling, this is only going to confound you.

I got this book when it was first released and it is a great resource while i'm with clients. As a professional hairdresser having something as a PDF on my phone that has 40 images of styles I can easily recreate is a gem!! When you are somewhere that has no service the PDF option is KEY!!! I love that some of them are just basic everyday knowledge but everyone has to start somewhere! I have referred quite a few friends and clients to this e-book and they have all raved about it!

Home Remedies: A Practical Guide to Common Ailments You Can Safely Treat at Home Using Conventional

Home Remedies: A Practical Guide to Common Ailments You Can Safely Treat at Home Using Conventional and Complementary MedicinesI came from India to USA to visit my garnd son in Minneapolis. While in Hennepen County libraray I have seen plenty of books and one of these was "HOME REMEDIES" by Michel VanStraten published in 1998. after going through the contents ,to my surprise EUREKA ! I found init ,both conventional and compemantary medicines for common ailments viz Allopathy,Homeopathy,Naturopathy,Herbopathy,Aromopathy,Occpressure,Alexanders Techs,Yoga, and grandmom's home remidie's etc. This gives option to anybody to go in for any type of medicine within his reach as these medicines prevent diseases in the initital stage itself. This is a rare goldbin to the poor and middleclass.Had it contained Magnetic Therpy,CosmicRay therpy, and Deshanes systems and Unanisystem of Medicines it would be more commen and universal. However prevention is better than cure I would like to carry this trusure to India.
