Buy When a Parent Has Cancer: A Guide to Caring for Your Children Now
Not only does this book deal with a very sensitive and difficult topic in a very intelligent, straightforward, sensitive, and psychologically healthy manner, but it teaches extremely valuable skills for parenting and coping with ANY troubles life may throw your way. The companion book for children does the very same thing, and very effectively teaches children coping skills in an encouraging, realistic, and safe way. Both books excel in highlighting and addressing differences between the ways adults process thoughts and emotions and the way children do this.Read Best Reviews of When a Parent Has Cancer: A Guide to Caring for Your Children Here
I came across this book after I was asked to give a presentation to parents at Gilda's Club about talking to children when you have been diagnosed with cancer. Dr. Wendy Harpham has lived the experience she writes about. This book is a remarkable resource providing invaluable information and help to anyone wondering how to tell his/her children he/she has been diagnosed with cancer and how to help the children deal with the ongoing challenges a family faces when a parent is fighting for his/her life.Want When a Parent Has Cancer: A Guide to Caring for Your Children Discount?
This book is realistic and upbeat. The author writes from experience and addresses all kinds of issues that are faced by the family, from care to physical changes. The book at the back for children is not so much a story for kids, as a narrative of suggestions to help the child(children) understand and be a part of the care process. I am sorry that I don't have more detail to share, as I've already sent it to my sister. She told me it was a great help.Home Sweeter Home: Creating a Haven of Simplicity and Spirit (Sweet Simplicity, Book 1)

overcomplicated. I just tried the "Stuffed Pepper" recipe last night and it was great. I have also purchased 1001 Low Carb recipes and 300 15-minute recipes. They give me lots of great ideas to try while maintaining my low carb eating plan. If you love to cook and want to keep it low carb give her books a try.

Just made my first recipe -Chicken Paprikash -from the new book, and it is plate-licking wonderful. A conservative estimate would be that over 45 years of cooking, I've made Chicken Paprikash at least 180 times from many, many different recipes. This was absolutely the best. If the rest of the book is this good, we'll be in hog heaven for a good long time.P.S. the only tinkering I did with the recipe was to degrease and reduce the sauce which forms in the crock pot before adding the sour cream, a maneuver suggested elsewhere in the book. When other reviewers say that a book has the same basic recipes but a simple spice or protein change counts as a 'new recipe', believe them! I bought this book anyway despite reading this same kind of review about this book (and most of the others). It's true! it's really true.
Like others say, it's also hard to find a recipe. You have to know what it's called, and if it has some odd name instead of just 'meatballs', good luck Chuck! I have three different slow cookers and I'll be damned if any of them make a good version of anything in this book. Three cookers can't be wrong, it has to be the recipes. I found them overdone, or too watery, or just not having the flavorful bang that I expected.
The recipes LOOK GOOD on paper, I can't deny it, I marked several to try and just could not get desirable results in the (basic) 6-8 hour time frame that most recipes seem to call for. Unlike the recipes I love from George Stella and other authors, the flavors in these just do not seem to fall within a range that myself or my family like. Some not enough, others just don't feel like there is a good balance between the spices used. Not anything in here I would try twice, that's for sure.
I could 'trade it in' on Amazon for a whole $1.75! Whoopee, after I paid what, $15 for this new? Ugh.
There are tons of slow cooker recipes for free on the internet, that you can easily adapt to low carb cooking. And they don't rely on Splenda out the wazzoo! I hate the aftertaste of Splenda and a lot of these sweet recipes take such an everloving MOUNTAIN of them, that it makes the final product inedible for our tastes.
Not one I would recommend. And I'll be giving my copy away because my local used bookstores will not buy it from me or even let me trade it in!!

Almost all of the "sweet" recipes in this book, from appetizers to desserts, require splenda. If you're not interested in using artificial sweeteners you might not find this book that useful.Homemade Cosmetics: Over 100 Recipes You Can Make at Home: (Facials - Baths - Hair Rinses - Lip Balm

Most of the other ingredients are eggs, honey, witch hazel, baking soda, all quality recipes to help the individual do it themselves. The author has a good website with a lot of the basic information and some recipes also.
I keep forgetting in the kindle if you like a recipe, use the bookmark feature to bookmark once, then you can use the "go to" feature later. A working TOC is a better feature imho.I was pleasantly surprised at the wonderful content of this book. I am not one for making things at home, but this book had so many recipes for things like makeup and salves and home remedies whose ingredients are readily available outdoors near your own home, depending on your location, or available in a store for very little money, that I was intrigued just flipping through! No preservatives, no harsh chemicals -I think I will give some of these things a try, especially the sage tea eyebrow dye! A well-researched and easily read book with clear easy recipes. A must-have!The information is clear and useful without being overwhelming. The author writes with authority and years of experience. I have already found the list of websites in the book helpful.I have several allergies to over the counter products for anything that touches my skin. That includes soap, shampoo, conditioner, hair gel, lotions, toothpaste too! I found several receipes I could use and have tried the bath soap for lavendar bath liquid soap that I have made twice. I have not had the red sores break out yet. I would have had a problem by now I do think. The conditioner with honey is very good too. I got some help putting two together that is working as well for my mouth! I will use this over and over I think. The author highlights the advantages of making your own bath and body products which include no preservatives, lower costs, customizing, environmentally friendly, and one I will add...FUN. I never knew I could make so many products at home, to include, lip balms, soaking bath products, toothpaste, mouthwash, shampoo, conditioner, toners, scrubs, hand lotions, deodorant, bug repellents, etc. I have not made anything yet from the book, but plan to in the near future. I enjoy knowing what the common bath and body products I normally buy are comprised of and how to make these products at home. Knowing this information contributes to my feeling of self-reliance.
