Most of the other ingredients are eggs, honey, witch hazel, baking soda, all quality recipes to help the individual do it themselves. The author has a good website with a lot of the basic information and some recipes also.
I keep forgetting in the kindle if you like a recipe, use the bookmark feature to bookmark once, then you can use the "go to" feature later. A working TOC is a better feature imho.I was pleasantly surprised at the wonderful content of this book. I am not one for making things at home, but this book had so many recipes for things like makeup and salves and home remedies whose ingredients are readily available outdoors near your own home, depending on your location, or available in a store for very little money, that I was intrigued just flipping through! No preservatives, no harsh chemicals -I think I will give some of these things a try, especially the sage tea eyebrow dye! A well-researched and easily read book with clear easy recipes. A must-have!The information is clear and useful without being overwhelming. The author writes with authority and years of experience. I have already found the list of websites in the book helpful.I have several allergies to over the counter products for anything that touches my skin. That includes soap, shampoo, conditioner, hair gel, lotions, toothpaste too! I found several receipes I could use and have tried the bath soap for lavendar bath liquid soap that I have made twice. I have not had the red sores break out yet. I would have had a problem by now I do think. The conditioner with honey is very good too. I got some help putting two together that is working as well for my mouth! I will use this over and over I think. The author highlights the advantages of making your own bath and body products which include no preservatives, lower costs, customizing, environmentally friendly, and one I will add...FUN. I never knew I could make so many products at home, to include, lip balms, soaking bath products, toothpaste, mouthwash, shampoo, conditioner, toners, scrubs, hand lotions, deodorant, bug repellents, etc. I have not made anything yet from the book, but plan to in the near future. I enjoy knowing what the common bath and body products I normally buy are comprised of and how to make these products at home. Knowing this information contributes to my feeling of self-reliance.
