Buy Plaited Glory: For Colored Girls Who've Considered Braids, Locks, and Twists Now
This book helped me get started on my road to natural hair care. In April I decided to go natural I have had my hair in braids since then, its now October. I am ready to move on to locks with no starting point. A friend recommended this book, Ohmigash am I glad she did. I learnt how to wash my hair, clean my roommates scalp, without disturbing her loc/coils/twist. The home remedies in this book really work I tried one the day after I read the book..... If your looking to learn our hair this book is a must have.Lonnice has charm, wit and intelligence which comes bursting through the pages of this little book. While I am definitely in favor of chemical free hair (that means no chemical texturizing either) you can still use a lot of the info in this book. I have found that texturizing can be done naturally by cornrowing or twisting your hair. See Pamela Ferrell's book about this subject matter. I think you should include this book in your library as a reference guide because it does have some goods tips, especially about conditioning your hair. Some of the products can't be found anymore but hey there are others that can be substituted and as long as you understand the concept Lonnice is trying to convey who cares what the product is called, just do it.Want Plaited Glory: For Colored Girls Who've Considered Braids, Locks, and Twists Discount?
I had become more and more interested in growing out my relaxer and wearing my hair natural. After finding enough information on the internet, and finally decided to do the big chop. I bough Lonnice Bonner's book so get some more tips on how to style and care for my hair. It's a really great, and very funny book which talks about Lonnice's personal hair experience. It gives great advice on how to care for natural hair, and shows some pictures and styles. The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5, is because I was lookiing more for some intructions on how to actually do styles. But I would definitely recommend this book. It's an easy read.Home Massage Therapy, Book 1 (Dahnhak, the Way to Perfect Health)

The Mom's Guide to Growing Your Family Green: Saving the Earth Begins at Home (Stonesong Press Books

Being that my city has mostly new homes that are Energy Star construction compliant, it would seem that we were doing all we can do. However, I learned through this guide about multiple other ways my family can come close to a zero-waste family and ways I can teach my children how to better treat the earth on which we live.
I'm also excited to start a green-type fundraising effort for my kids' schools and I think the parents, faculty, and students will be able to get just as excited!
I love the informative charts that explain how to dispose of differing types of waste appropriately. I also love the easy-to-understand descriptions of those little recycle symbols and numbers. They are really great references for my family's recycling program.
What is most helpful is that the author, Terra Wellington, obviously has experiences with her own family with the things she has written about. That makes my family's "green goals" seem attainable and makes me excited to see the results of our efforts. -by Natasha Call, UtahThis book is so jam-packed with current, useful information! I don't subscribe to the notion that humans are causing all of the earth's climate and atmospheric changes, however I have nothing against changing some of my habits to help reduce the need for unnessary energy and wastefulness in general. Some of the information in this book was mind-boggling Terra has written a very informative guide on how to trade-in old habits that have a negative impact on the earth for techniques that will reduce wasted time, energy and resources. This book is seriously in my purse at all times now! I use it while shopping, as she has done all the research for me!
Terra's charts and explainations about rating systems (found on product labels) are priceless! I now feel confident that I can make informed choices while shopping for things I took for granted in the past, really, because I didn't know any better. Now I do! I am now armed with the knowledge of how to save money AND help preserve the earth's resources and I can feel confident that I am teaching my children to care about this beautiful earth we are all blessed to live on. Thank you Terra! I will be giving copies to my close friends for their birthdays this year. Really, I feel much better prepared and much less overwhelmed with the "how-to's" and I know my friends will feel the same way."The Mom's Guide to Growing Your Family Green: Saving the Earth Begins at Home (Stonesong Press Books)" has a wealth of information in it. The book was written in a way that holds the reader's attention and makes one want to continue reading long into the night. I enjoyed the "humor" throughout the book. It kept the subject matter from becoming "too dry". Our Earth is delicate and by incorporating the ideas in the book into my everyday life, I feel that I am doing my part to help keep our planet green. There were a number of things in the book that I have not ever considered would make a difference. I also was elated to find many websites listed that have proven very useful to me and to my family. I plan to include this book in my children's Christmas stockings this year...may even add to some other's gifts. This book is amazing! Extremely reader-friendly and thoroughly researched, it will be a resource book I will glean from for some time. Because of this book, I have made simple changes in the way I do things that I think will make a difference in my life and in the lives of my children and grandchildren. Thank you, Terra Wellington, for providing The Mom's Guide to Growing Your Family Green. As with all the great books out there for converting your lifestyle to a greener one, Growing Your Family Green gives great steps for the beginners and those willing to take bigger steps. It provides clear instructions, helpful websites, and a great resource list in the back. Suggestions range from cleaning at home to greener shopping and traveling. Most of the information is not new, certainly. But I don't think the intended audience is one that is ready for composting toilets and going vegan.
This book is unique because it considers its audience very well. The audience is clearly middle-class moms-women with one or more kids and (probably) a man in the house. There are constant suggestions about how to involve the whole family into going green, which is great because, in my household, right now that means knowing the difference between the trash can and the recycling bin!
This book not only recommends switching from traditional bulbs to Compact Fluorescent (which anyone concerned with going green generally does as a first move anyways), it includes a chart explaining what kind of bulbs should go into which room and for which purpose and how to clean up one of these bulbs when they shatter-which most moms will have to do at some point or another.
This would be a great gift for Mother's Day or Earth Day and is a good guide for a busy mom who wants to quickly find the eco-info she is looking for.
A Palliative Ethic of Care: Clinical Wisdom at Life's End

The only way citizens can manage hospitalization and/or end-of-life matters is through information. Prognosis is but one type of information. Also crucial is understanding how the institutions we're bedded in function. According to what precepts and roadmaps. APEOC is a roadmap into provider thoughts when treating the obviously dying.
Being a writer and reader on these topics, my antennae are up, and I picked up a problem statement toward the end. Paraphrasing, in regards to unaccompanied patients with written directives and a study citing that those directives were (more) often ignored, Fins failed to say the next logical (and required) thing: "so, med students, don't you ignore ADs in these instances." I cite this oversight because it's important to realize that even docs who orient themselves toward more humane clinical practices miss pitches. This, of course, is why there's something called "patient advocacy".

Wonderful book full of truth, and don't we all love those books? Unfortunately, half of us will refuse to accept the truth and "blame" other people for our problems. The problem is that half of us create disease in our bodies from eating the wrong foods or using the wrong "beauty" products. Products like perfumes, aftershaves, deodorants, body creams, and sprays are so poisonous to the body's natural equilibrium. I would love for this book to be advertised on TV. Man oh Man how that would cause some controversy amongst the big pharma companies who dish out all this poisonous crap! in fact, when I win big on the lottery or sell enough of my own books, I will sponsor Connie in any which way she would love to market her book.Anyhow, I too are extra sensitive to chemicals, even in foods. I use soap on my hair, body, and face, and Neem cream moisturiser from The Neem People. Ghanian Black Soap is my staple, and I make my own skin scrubs using natural coconut oil, raw shea butter, and natural cane sugar. It's wonderful and my skin smells lush. Natural essential oils fragrance my home, and I have stopped using Mr Muscle and Cillit Bang and just use basic water and 10-20 drops of lemon and lime essential oils. Just shows how much scare mongering goes on in advertisements to persuade people to buy the product. I feel healthier than ever, although I do suffer from migraines as my body is so sensitive to outside pollutants. Great job Connie.Imagine yourself basically a prisoner in your own home because of all the toxic chemicals in fragrances of products used everywhere we go! The author of this book describes her gradual build-up of becoming intolerant of fragrance. She used perfumes, scented candles, lotions, etc...and has ended up not being able to go out of her home because of the horrible reactions she has to the toxic fragrances! This is a scary book...but any one of us could face the same situation! A very important book...now, I think about it every time someone walks past with strong perfume or any other type of scent...thanks to the author for enlightening us!

Every woman worries about getting breast cancer because there is such a high incidence rate in this country: NINE out of TEN women will get breast cancer. One has to wonder why; certainly, our doctors can't (or maybe "won't") tell us. After reading this book, it makes perfect "scents." I never knew perfume, cologne and products that have "fragrance" in them contain deadly carcinogens (in fact, the very same ones found in tobacco smoke). This book contains convincing and legitimate scientific and medical data confirming that fragrance chemicals are also composed of neurotoxins and teratogens (which cause birth defects).I also was educated as to why so many people have asthma, RADS and migraine headaches.
The unequivocal evidence presented in this book reveals the fragrance industry has been testing its chemical products on US -the unsuspecting consumer -and, despite the industry's mass fortune, the results of their "roll of the dice" have been debilitating illness, disability and death to millions of innocent, unaware people. The fragrance industry has violated every federal law, including the Toxic Substances Control Act, and, as usual, our government has done NOTHING to protect the public.
Once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down. I read the entire book in one day because it captured my attention 100%. Immediately after reading this book, I threw away every bottle of perfume and all products that had "fragrance" listed on the label. Folks, we're talking about pure POISON -far worse than pesticides -and we're putting it right on our skin which makes it go directly into our bloodstream, and then we are forced to inhale it in the same manner as second-hand smoke. At least tobacco smoke can be avoided in the majority of public places, but perfume vapors are ubiquitous and completely unavoidable, especially in places where they should be banned, such as hospitals and medical facilities.
I encourage every woman and man to read this book in order to protect your health and that of your children and loved ones, then share it with everyone you know who wears fragrances. After reading this book, I guarantee you will be OUTRAGED ... Contact your local and state representatives and, most importantly, the FDA and DEMAND that the FDA punish this unscrupulous industry for its heinous crimes against mankind. We are human beings, not guinea pigs.
AND, FOR GOD'S SAKE, WHATEVER YOU DO -DON'T BUY THE PERSON YOU LOVE A BOTTLE OF PERFUME OR COLOGNE FOR CHRISTMAS!!!
