I have probably purchased every book of this ilk that is on the market. Surprisingly, this turned out to be one of my favorites! The author has the honest "voice" of a long time close friend, which made the book a very pleasant and enjoyable read. I found every chapter to offer me sound, easy-to-follow advice. My only regret was that it didn't provide more illustrations of her suggestions. If you have never read this sort of book, you will find some really good suggestions. But then, you probably wouldn't be looking at this review then, would you? People reading here have almost certainly read more than one book about dressing well and looking good for overweight women. This book literally has nothing new, and worse than that, the author tends to mistake the gems she has learned that work for HER with general principles we all could benefit from. She does make an attempt to address different body proportions, but it's not very deep or useful. It is sometimes difficult to read because the author is not a graceful writer and hasn't had the benefit of good editing. It's not illiterate--don't get me wrong--just awkward.Want Pretty Plus: How to Look Sexy, Sensational, and Successful, No Matter What You Weigh Discount?
Most of the advice in this slim volume is valid, but similar to that offered elsewhere, i.e., What Not to Wear. Was disappointed that the book featured a whole chapter for petites but not one sentence for tall women. Am truly excited to explore the recommendations for best brands from the Appendix. Also was glad to read the discussion of and recommendations for footwear.
