As a physician working with patients at risk for osteoporosis, I have found the book to be a great educational tool. The exercises are easy to perform thanks to its concisely written and well-illustrated format.
In addition to a complete exercise program, Ms. Bissinger has included a section on posture and body mechanics. This section is an important complement to any exercise regimen. The way one lives their daily life is crucial in preventing back and spinal injuries.
Thanks to Ms. Bissinger for her terrific book. This book is only 27 pages long. It is more of a booklet than a book. However, it has great exercises (about 15 in all) with well-drawn illustrations and easy to understand text so there's no problem doing the excercises, and you can easily incorporate most of them into day-to-day living. There is valuable information for anyone dealing with low bone density. I learned quite a lot about which exercises are beneficial for a person with low bone density, and (even more importantly), which exercises could cause injury.

I was recently diagnosed with severe osteoporosis and learned the things I absolutely shouldn't do (like bend forward from the waist) during physical therapy, so I knew as soon as I looked through this book that it was safe for someone with my condition to use. I highly recommend this book, but would also say that you should have your doctor look it over and give approval. If you have osteoporosis, you should always check with your doctor before starting any exercise program. It is usually hard to do exercises from a book rather than a video but this one works! The exercises are well explained and are accompanied by drawings showing both the correct and incorrect way to do them. The book is well written and easy to follow. It provides valuable information about the types of things you should and should not do if you have osteoporosis. Being recently diagnosed this was something I was concerned about and this book addressed all my concerns.Women need all the help they can get these days for osteoporosis, especially since prescription drugs are becoming an ominous choice for many. Love the simplicity of this book and one can get started immediately with the exercises, since it is a small book, to the point and gives helpful hints. What's really nice are the illustrations, since one doesn't have to think about alignment but simply look at the pictures. I am using these exercises consistently and will happily share with friends. This book is not only appropriate for people with bone density issues, but contains information that can benefit most anyone.
