Fresh Air for Life: How to Win Your Unseen War Against Indoor Air Pollution

Fresh Air for Life: How to Win Your Unseen War Against Indoor Air PollutionThis is one of the best, easy reading books on indoor air quality I have found. It leads the reader through a understandable "mountain" of technical information with clear and insightful direction. Not only does Doctor Sommersall throughly explain the problem he explains what can be done about it.

If you are interested in the quality of the air you breathe wether it is in public buildings, workplaces, hospitals etc., or more importantly in your own home, then this is a very inexpensive purchase with a large return in clean air.

Confused about what to buy to clean the air in your home or business? Dr. Somersall will give you an excellent, easy-to-read review of all types of air filtration and purification product types, the advantages and disadvantages of each, and a brief history of the development of the newer technologies available today in air purification products. These products spun off from technology that was developed for NASA for the shuttles and space station and have now gone beyond that space-age technology.

A must read if you want to know about optimizing indoor air quality.

Osteoporosis: An Exercise Guide

Osteoporosis: An Exercise GuideMs. Bissinger's book, Osteoporosis: An Exercise Guide is a elegantly simple guide to help prevent and treat osteoporosis.

As a physician working with patients at risk for osteoporosis, I have found the book to be a great educational tool. The exercises are easy to perform thanks to its concisely written and well-illustrated format.

In addition to a complete exercise program, Ms. Bissinger has included a section on posture and body mechanics. This section is an important complement to any exercise regimen. The way one lives their daily life is crucial in preventing back and spinal injuries.

Thanks to Ms. Bissinger for her terrific book.

This book is only 27 pages long. It is more of a booklet than a book. However, it has great exercises (about 15 in all) with well-drawn illustrations and easy to understand text so there's no problem doing the excercises, and you can easily incorporate most of them into day-to-day living. There is valuable information for anyone dealing with low bone density. I learned quite a lot about which exercises are beneficial for a person with low bone density, and (even more importantly), which exercises could cause injury.

I was recently diagnosed with severe osteoporosis and learned the things I absolutely shouldn't do (like bend forward from the waist) during physical therapy, so I knew as soon as I looked through this book that it was safe for someone with my condition to use. I highly recommend this book, but would also say that you should have your doctor look it over and give approval. If you have osteoporosis, you should always check with your doctor before starting any exercise program.

It is usually hard to do exercises from a book rather than a video but this one works! The exercises are well explained and are accompanied by drawings showing both the correct and incorrect way to do them. The book is well written and easy to follow. It provides valuable information about the types of things you should and should not do if you have osteoporosis. Being recently diagnosed this was something I was concerned about and this book addressed all my concerns.

Women need all the help they can get these days for osteoporosis, especially since prescription drugs are becoming an ominous choice for many. Love the simplicity of this book and one can get started immediately with the exercises, since it is a small book, to the point and gives helpful hints. What's really nice are the illustrations, since one doesn't have to think about alignment but simply look at the pictures. I am using these exercises consistently and will happily share with friends. This book is not only appropriate for people with bone density issues, but contains information that can benefit most anyone.

The Enlightened Diet: Seven Weight-loss Solutions That Nourish Body, Mind, and Soul

The Enlightened Diet: Seven Weight-loss Solutions That Nourish Body, Mind, and SoulAs someone who has struggled with weight and food issues for years, I was on my way to attempt a very restrictive calorie program when I got this book. It has really turned around my thinking. Now I'm focusing my diet efforts on nurturing myself as opposed to punishing myself. The tips and suggestions are very helpful--especially the mindfulness exercises for eating.

I, too, have been struggling with my weight for several years. Who hasn't? What got to me, though, was how similar all the popular diets were to each other. They all consisted of restricting something and encouraging you to move more. That sounds fine and dandy in the lab and scientifically it is "proven" to work. If it "worked" then why didn't everyone who counted calories and exercise more lose weight?

I was one of those people. So I read this book, because the authors claimed to have identified 7 eating patterns that had (mostly) nothing to do with what or how much you were eating, but HOW you were eating. I've never seen the Zone, South Beach, Atkins, Weight Watchers, etc address how you eat with such emphasis, and even if they did they just gloss over it.

Not only does this book have science to back it up, it has techniques you can use. Most books just have suggestions; this one had steps you could take to make their advice work in your life. Some of it does sound corny, especially if you're unfamiliar with meditation or mindfulness. But I figure if you're so desperate to lose weight, you will try anything. And all you have to do is buy this book and read it. It was wonderful and pleasant to read (although the author constantly used phrases like "remember when I mentioned earlier in the chapter" and then summarizes what she's written so far. I do have a memory, lady.)

I intend to use the techniques in this book starting now!

As an expert in weight loss and the mind-body connection, I have read hundreds of weight loss and diet books. The Enlightened Diet, by Deborah Kesten and Larry Scherwitz, cuts through the superficial and brilliantly illuminates those deeper psychological factors that are at the source of a successful weight loss plan. Easy-to-read and supported with stories of real-life examples, The Enlightened Diet is a refreshingly clear, relevant approach that stands far above the sea of "eat this, don't eat that" diet books. In addition to my own materials, I will be recommending this book to my clients and in my weight loss classes.

The book Enlightened Diet by Deborah Kesten and Larry Scherwitz makes the connection between the way you eat your meals and live your life and the outer expression of that consciousness as reflected in how much extra weight you carry. In short, the authors show how food and body weight issues are really all about consciousness -being conscious of the atmosphere and company at meals, the taste of the food, the freshness of the food and its preparation, how stress impairs good digestion and the unexpressed emotions that food may be masking. It's a great wake-up call for people who want to shift away from mindless eating.

Essential Home Remedies: Staying Healthy With Simple, Natural Home Remedies From The Pantry And The

Essential Home Remedies: Staying Healthy With Simple, Natural Home Remedies From The Pantry And The GardenThis little volume is a terrific starter for those of us interested in using herbal and home remedies but not yet very knowledgable about these. I had read bits and pieces elsewhere about properties of ginger, lavender, apple vinegar, etc., but usually after googling each malady or each herb separately. I would also suggest that the author provide more information as to how the reader can know if, for example, honey is pasteurized or not. Are there health regulations that mandate this information for commercial sale of these products? But all in all, this is a good and very helpful, starters' compendium.

My very strong recommendation is that the author find a competent proofreader or copyeditor to go over the text with a fine-tooth comb to correct the countless errors, like using 'it's' when 'its' is needed and vice-versa (throughout), punctuation errors, spelling errors, and plain old grammar mistakes. All can be easily and painlessly corrected--but as the text now stands, these mistakes take away from the overall usefulness and credibility of the information.

Short book, read in about 90 minutes. Just enough to whet your appetite. Would have appreciated some sources for further research as she frequently recommended.

101 Plus Size Women's Clothing Tips (Lifetips Books)

101 Plus Size Women's Clothing TipsI loved these tips. As a full-figured woman always looking for ways to spice up my wardrobe, I found this book to be fun and practical. Especially for warm weather outfits, which I consistently find a problem with, I really enjoyed the style tips and advice. Shoes make a difference, too! And I love how the author combined her fashion sense with foot sense. It's a good reference book that you can have to use whenever you need a quick tip.

This book is great for fashion advice for bigger women. It's hard to find style information for my size (22W)and Ms. Moultry's book gave me ideas for dressing using clothes that are already in my own closet. I particularly love the chapter about ideas for women with a sort of apple shape, since this is what my body looks like. Would recommend to any woman over size 12, looking for fashion advice.

This is a great book from everything to the "oh yea, I know better than to do that, I needed the reminder" to "I never thought of it that way" when it comes to fashion tips for plus sized women. Definitely a valuable item to have sitting in or near your closet to refer to when needed.

I found this book to be nothing new and nothing special. I'd imagine some women would find it useful as a very concise summary of fashion tips but I read it cover to cover at one sitting and honestly did not see anything in there I did not already know. I must expain however that I work as a colour and image consultant also, I am NOT plus-sized. Some tips weren't especially enlightening eg Tip No 76 Wear Sox When You Work Out...Tip 74 talks about washing your gym gear regularly. I also take exception to the same old refrain about how 'everybody should wear black' on some women the colour is too heavy for their natural colouring and makes them look even heavier than they are not kind if they are plus-sized already. There are other books that do a much better job eg I've just begun reading Suzan Nanfeldt's Plus Style, which looks brilliant.
