Practically Posh: The Smart Girls' Guide to a Glam Life

Practically Posh: The Smart Girls' Guide to a Glam LifeThis is a "Guide to Life" that you and all of your girlfriends would love! The author's writing style makes you feel like you are one of her BFFs. There are tips on asking for a raise, for decorating your home, how to "impress a dude", great drugstore beauty products and even recipes for entertaining. The book has plenty of visuals and is so well put together that you can pick it up and read 5-10 pages without even realizing. This is the pefect book for busy women on the go who want to uncover the secrets of living a posh life, practically a feat not easily accomplished, but with Moreno's help a possibility for all of us glam girls. This will be on my "give list" for Christmas this year!

I absolutely love this book! It has so much great information delivered in such witty and charming ways. Being in my mid 20's it seems to be just about the right age group to learn from the information before it's too late. I would highly recommend it to any woman graduating college and hoping to make a graceful transition into a more adult world.

I purchased this book three times, however, it was not out of excitement to share it with others. My first copy, after taking it home and reading straight through the first half of it, had several pages come loose from the binding and fall straight out. I took it back and exchanged it for another one, which after flipping through a few more pages, ran into the same problem. I took my second copy back to the store and ordered a third copy, hoping that this time I'd have more luck. Sure enough, once it came in and I started to flip through it and check the pages, a few fell out of my THIRD copy. Unfortunately I simply returned it and didn't bother buying a new copy.

I LOVE this book and wish I had a copy of it still at home, but unless they reprint it with a stronger binding I doubt it will grace my bookshelf anytime in the near future. Very disappointed in the structure.

Did anyone else have this problem?

I am a single woman in my late-thirties. I wish I had this book in my late twenties and early thirties. It contains tons of information that I had to learn by trial and error as well as other tips that I did not know about then but sound like a great idea now. The book is fun & entertaining but also practical and should be kept as a reference book. It's a nice starting point to building your "grown-up" life.

Practically Posh by Robin Moreno is almost like reading a magazine with lots of little articles about how to find less expensive solutions to the things you would like to fill your life with.

It deals with everything from smart shopping trips to the grocery store to how to find your own style. It also includes subjects as how to get a promotion, being a trendy hostess on a budget and meeting the parents for the first time. The chapters are all divided into small 1-3 pages subchapters, and Moreno shares personal stories and tips related to the different subchapters.

Practically Posh seems to be an attempt to find cost effective ways to keep up a trendy lifestyle, and it is mostly geared towards single women. I think the most appropriate readership would be college to recent college graduate females, while it might also appeal to single women paying high rents.

I enjoyed reading Practically Posh, and the book is an easy read with lots of wonderful photos. However, I did feel that the book was a bit superficial, in the fact that it did not really go in depth on any of the subjects. It was almost as if I had to rush through the process of being practically posh.

It is not a book for frugal moms, avid coupon clippers or penny pinchers, but I can definitely see how it would come in handy for women who are used to being, or wish to be, big spenders.
